Monaco

Overview

Monaco is a sovereign state, located on the French Riviera between Cap d'Ail and Menton, just a few kilometers from the Italian Riviera.

Squeezed into just 200 hectares, Monaco is the second smallest independent state in the world (apart from the Vatican).

Since the early 20th century, this city-state has attracted many high-rollers and hedonists.

Monaco is dominated by high-rise hotels, super yachts and apartment blocks that rise up into the hills.

In contrast, the rocky outcrop known as Le Rocher is crowned by a rather charming old town, which houses Prince Albert's II, the Royal Palais Princier.

Monte Carlo's legendary marble-and-gold casino is Europe's most lavish example of belle époque architecture as well as Monaco essential.

Monaco is a glamorous place that has a worldwide reputation. Everywhere you look there are fabulous parks and gardens, sumptuous boutiques with the latest fashions, palace luxury hotels, and very chic restaurants.

It is also renowned as one of the world's most notorious tax havens and home to the annual Formula One Grand Prix.
